Well yeah. It comes across as an analog of suicide. A person who seems unhappy with himself decides to remove himself from other living people. He leaves a note to be found with his lifeless body by a family member in which he tries to explain his actions and how comfortable he is with these actions, in the impossible hope somehow that they will be comfortable with them as well. It's really all downright scary.
