Art critique and advice; beginner artists are welcome to post here; includes an oekaki. (NO FLAMES)

Artists, read before posting!

Before you post your art to ask for critique, please read these tutorials. They explain the basic principles of drawing and figure drawing. Most posts where these basics are missing will never get a response, as people are quite frankly sick and bored of explaining over and over that you would have to pretty much learn how to draw first, before you could improve.

These were brought to my attention by Aeresque#Artist. Courtesy of Scribd: Drawing the Human head, Drawing Dynamic Hands, Dynamic Figure Drawing
And for those of you who want it a bit easier, we also have the whole thing as one neat rar with all three books in pdf form.

NEW! These were brought to my attention by MajorTom in #fchan. Courtesy of Andrew Loomis: Creative Illustration, Drawing the Head and Hands, Eye Of The Painter, Figure drawing for all it's worth, Fun with a Pencil, Successful Drawing, Drawing Dynamic Hands.

If you think you know a good basic tutorial that would fit in here, feel free to contact me under Xenofur in IRC and I will add the link.

Does this board still work?

Come on /crit/, help me improve.

I don't use ipersaturated colour anymore. And im putting more time on my work.
That is one of the last I've done, without photoreference .

Express yourself freely.

Who are you? You seem familiar.

You really need to get some basics of anatomy down. Search for and study reference material, some of which is provided above. Skeletal structure, muscular structure, fat deposits and then flesh. It sounds more difficult than it is, although it is horribly tedious. It is also horribly enjoyable, and I can't see why one would forego anatomical studies.

Stay away from color, you need to get the basics of value down as well. Plus the white highlighting on the character makes her look like rubber, and in this case it's really not all that appealing.

In addition to what Mr. Deathz, spend time visualizing in your minds eye what you want the piece to look like. Frame each detail for itself and then compose the frames into a whole one by one.

If the line you draw doesn't look like what you expected, take a step back and remember clearly what it looked like in your mind. Erase the mistake and try again with much concentration.

Getting a picture drawn might take longer this way, but you will find the result much more satisfying and you'll be motivated to continue.
