I'm trying to start my own portfolio (I'm an art student going into game design) and I'd just like to say my current project is a spoogeified female portfolio (featuring characters of my own design).

I will obviously update this thread when I have some images done, but I was wondering on which is fair to you all.

I intend to sell the majority of the pics on CDs and such, but I also know the frustration of having to buy CDs too look at art... so which works best?

1) having low quality versions on the net, high quality versions on the CD.

2) having a couple HQ pics on the net, more on the CDs

3) just going for borke and making like 40 images / cd and selling it without the images being online

I have no idea what to choose, but the first CD would have like 20 images, some B/W, some hand colored, some cg, some 3d.

thoughts?

I'd suggest 1 if you have NOTHING or very little to show or put up on a site.

2 if you already have some of your work as a teaser...  look at foxxfire's site and you'll see what I mean.

You may want to look into the Furbid community if you are looking into watching sales techniques. Also the Furbid LiveJournal might help out a bit.

I have lots to put on an art gallery, including 3d and photo-manipulation stuff... I just don't have any furry yet.
