but but but ... i LIKE the construction sign D: anyways, the server itself and the software is running smoothly and only miniscule changes are being made. what is a problem is that i still keep getting reports about the url of fchan not resolving properly to the ip. i have no idea what the problem there is, since i do not have that problem and neither does any of our staff. :/

I just ran dnstrace from here to see if I could figure out what's going on (I'll email you the full output if you want, it's rather long). The problem seems to be bad NS and glue records on 216.80.15.211 and 216.80.15.212: glue hentaiplanet.net 216.80.15.211 NS ns.hentaiplanet.net glue hentaiplanet.net 216.80.15.212 NS ns.hentaiplanet.net glue outpost-host.com 216.80.15.211 NS ns.outpost-host.com glue outpost-host.com 216.80.15.212 NS ns.outpost-host.com glue ns.hentaiplanet.net 216.80.15.211 A 216.80.15.213 glue ns.hentaiplanet.net 216.80.15.212 A 216.80.15.213 1 ns.hentaiplanet.net 216.80.15.213 ALERT: query failed; connection refused 1 ns.outpost-host.com 216.80.15.211 NXDOMAIN 1 ns.outpost-host.com 216.80.15.212 NXDOMAIN The glue records on the gtld servers are OK though, which is what's causing the erratic results. For me, the lookup seems to work at first, then returns SERVFAIL until the bad NS records expire.

Until recently, most everyone I've known was having a lot of no-resolve issues with fchan. I can only speak for myself and my experience though, but let me tell you it was rather depressing not to at least be able to see spirited discussion that didn't end or begin or middle with too much "omg lol your fag stfu noob". I am with the WideOpenWest (wowway.com or wideopenwest.com) ISP, so if that helps any. The ENTIRETY of hp.net was no resolve for a while too. Other users elsewhere were finding the same thing. Kochan, 4chan, other boards, a lot of them all with comments of fchan or hp.net not alive. Any reasons why? Tonight's the first night I was able to connect!!

I can vouch for DNS not resolving properly. I'm only here now because I put my own bind resolver into place a week ago as a test, using the root nameservers, and it wasn't until today that dns allowed me to visit. The provider's nameservers still haven't caught up.

Same. It's come and go, hit or miss. Usually seems to occur during high-traffic hours.

I'm glad to see the site is back up. Was having wierd "cannot locate server host" or somesuch thing for about a week now, but today (or rather yesterday?) I was able to log on. so for all the Teck people that helped Thanks a bunch ^_^ Oooh. Can't wait till finals week is over so I can devote more time to the net. ;P Peace
