I will keep this short and sweet:

We have added a new board to try and solve the /ah problem. Keep in mind, this is NOT another /mem. The guidelines for the content are kept much simpler, but it is not to be a free-for-all. Please read the top of the page before posting there.

If there are any questions in regard to what may be posted, please ask those here. We will try to get an answer back to you ASAP.

Other information may follow, so STAY TOONED! (lol roflcopter)

Aside from what Raven has already mentioned, do check the description regularly at the top of the board regularly. We will be making it more precise and more easily udnerstandable as we go along. :)

If there is /ah content, then it should stay on /ah.

>>4

We shall see, o ye of little faith. It will actually be pretty hard for people to screw this up. It's clear cut and leaves little room for any problems we can't handle. The board just launched a few hours ago, and despite the first thread being a dud, everyone else has launched right into it with no problems and are posting the correct material. So it definitely has a good chance.

Perhaps because it belonged in /c and there's big text at the top that says not to post /c content? :P

As a random poster, let me say that I'm glad /mem/ died.  Way too many things were posted in there that were perfectly acceptable in the "normal" boards, and some of them (/f/ in particular) became seriously starved for traffic.  I hope /toon/  doesn't do the same thing...

Get over it.

I'll just say that this /toon/ board seems to be exactly what I wanted here.  This decision has bolstered my faith in the leadership here.  Of course this will all depend on the users, but I'm optimistic.  Cheers, Xenofur!

Do you mean gay as in homosexual or in some other context?  (These words mean so many things now that I don't know what anybody's talking about anymore!)

gay = homo

no other meaning nowadays.i tihnk they took this word to soften the sexual aspect...

19Report
at 9 Sep 2006: 01:23

>>18

While you are technically correct, the word is used mostly as an insult (although not a serious, hurtful one.) , and Gay is just a more fun sounding way to say "fag" or "Homo" or "queer". E.G You knocked my tea over you big gay!

If hovever the word is followed by "yiff", thre can be no confusion ;P

20Report
at 9 Sep 2006: 02:13

Gay also means "Happy". Which is why more people need to be homosexuals. Because we know how to be HAPPY!

Lol I think maybe we should think about having a "sonic females" section, cause whoever said it would be a dumping ground for gay toons must have missed all the solo shots of sonic females.

Although I'd like it if some of the things that had fit in /f/ or /s/, stay in /f/ or /s/, as some of the "general" threads are becoming sausage parties.

29Report
at 12 Sep 2006: 01:36

Although I'm liking /toon, isn't this idea of what is cartoon like a major flaw? Surely the vast majority of furry art is drawn in a cartoon style, what is 'realistic' furry art supposed to be like? As the board is allowed to take original art drawn in the cartoon style won't it just drain art from boards such as /m, /f, /s etc?

32Report

Why can't characters that are very clearly adult remain in /f/ and /s/? I see people posting Carmelita Fox (from Sly Cooper), Jenny (from Bucky o' Hare), the mother and daughter (okay, she's late teens but still) from Father of the Pride, Colleen from Road Rovers, Minerva Mink from Animaniacs, and Mirage from Aladdin, when they are okay in the regular boards?

Answer that question and solve the problem of people not even attempting to think and i'll hand over full control of the site to you. ;)

In short: We tried that last time with mem, didn't work, so we won't even try it now. Either the majority gets it or toon gets axed again. I don't care either ways.

34Report
at 14 Sep 2006: 10:40

hmmm, just follow the rules and know what a toon is, thats not to hard, but you know, theres always someone trying to make things much harder then it actually is and it gets old, i see where your coming from

My thoughts (which probably aren't worth much, but here they are):

If somebody wants to start a thread for a specific cartoon character or a specific cartoon series, it should go in toon.

If a picture overlaps with the theme of a thread in one of the other boards, the picture would go there.  Say, if there's a thread in /f/ for foxgirls, then pics of Krystal and Carmelita Fox could go in that thread.  If there's a thread for, say, wet t-shirts in /f/ (just throwing this out) and there's a picture of Gadget in a wet t-shirt, it could be posted in that thread.

36Report
at 14 Sep 2006: 16:14

well, thats sorta the idea but not really, toon is there for vaarious cartoons (i didn't rally need to explain it like that but i do have a point) you see wail there is a wet t-shirt thread in f/ and a gadget thread in toon/ the person who is posting it is simply trying to stay within the lines of the rules (finding a picture by asking it in a deeper detail is sorta pointless) the only way someone can do that is that someone actually posts a gadget thread in toon otherwise it can possibly go in f/... but there is always thst one wall everyone keeps hitting and it hurts sooo much... the age of the toon character, it seems to confuse someone at one time or another and that was xenofur maybe talking about, but i could be all wrong about this

But how do Krystal and Carmelita fit in /toon/ anyway?

38Report
at 14 Sep 2006: 17:22

artist, go in f/ or s/ because they don't have any real ties to the mass media (for example makeing you own characters or stories) but characters like DK or bowser go in toon (because they have been on TV befor)i hope i'm saying this right

Morgoth897 at 14 Sep 2006: 18:05

It seems this should be the true purpose of /toon/. Tell us, Xeno or some other mod: Should this be the way we use the new board? To post copyrighted mass media characters unless they are obviously /ah/ material? Small tweaks and suggestions now could save /toon/ from the fate of /mem/.

Raven at 14 Sep 2006: 20:46

The top of the board already says, in bold, what it is made for. We will allow certain things that do not fit perfectly into it's purpose, but we also don't want everyone to use it specifically for that.

Everyone. Just read the top of /toon. We've answered these questions already, what is there to misunderstand?
