>>10  Oh, dear God, no!  And especially not with the vocals!  Japanese girls singing in that brain-melting forced high-pitch voice is like nails on a chalkboard.  Then every other stanza ends with a drawn out "Eeee!" or "Oo-oo!".  Without the vocals the music is as mind-numbing as "It's a Small World After All," but it's still easier on the ears.

Personally, I like HaTcH's suggestion, but whatever you want to do, Raven. It's your perogative.

Some skipping was reported today. Quality was lowered to compensate. I will try increasing it again next week as there will be a better internet connection at my disposal.

Please report any bugs or quality related issues here or to my email. Thanks. ^^

Due to bandwidth on my end, the stream may have some buffering issues for the next day or so. >.>

(*is very happy this is only a beta test*)

Hey, Raven. Think you could make a list somewhere for the songs played and at what time they were played? Like a schedule? Just to help people who want to know what the name of that good song they heard at ??:?? was.

Raven at 19 Sep 2006: 10:15

Hmm. I'd probably need some kind of script to do that. I know people do it, but I am not familiar with how it's done. I wanted to set up a request system too, though I am told it's simply not possible with the way things are being run.

Though, if you are currently listening to something and want to know what it is, just check the stream page. It shows the name of what's currently playing (assuming the ID3 tag is working properly).

Well you could just as easily host a simple table of certain people DJing at what times, and what they plan on play (specific genre, or everything).  That way, you could check ahead of time.

And request system?  Well, you do have mIRC.

I'm talking about auto-queuing with the request.

As for DJs, it's just me. I could show what playlist I'm playing, but given the amount of songs in some of them (one thousand or more) and that it's randomized, there's no way for me to have a list of them all in the order they'll be played in.

As I said above, if I'm live on IRC, I have no problems taking requests and whatnot. ^^

By the way. How exactly do you listen to the Fchan Radio? I saw the address but...Bleh. I'm bad with the Computer sometimes. Just curious.

I know it works with either Winamp or iTunes. Possibly also with Windows Media Player. You can either tell the programme to connect to "http://fchan.hentaiplanet.net:9000"; or you can open that page with your web browser and click on the "Listen" link. That will give you a file to open with one of those programmes, which should automatically play the stream.

Due to restarts of the server, the name of the person who originally set the ban was lost.  I've just been informed about the details - It's going to be left off, as long as the original behavior that earned the ban is not repeated.  For future reference however, /dis/ is no the place for discussions of bans, IRC or otherwise - for that, email one of the mods.

Yes, I was under the assumption that something upbeat and bouncy would probably be the most liked. I am going to make a few different playlists, but one of them will be all hyper-bouncy. :3

Hey, Raven. I was just curious. Are you ever going to add a playlist to Fchan Radio with vocals? I'm all good for non-vocal music but it doesnt hurt to add a few. Y'know?

I do have one. You just haven't listened in at the times I have it turned on.

I'll switch over for the night, so feel free to tune in. But Xeno likes the OC Remix playlist, so I will probably put that back on sometime tomorrow.

Next week, I'll make a more mixed playlist, but that involves setting up the library in it's entirety. And I haven't had the chance to do that yet.

Temporary location for the list of the last 1000 songs played (No, it's not full yet).  It updates itself once every 5 minutes.

I'll make a quick site for the radio stuff later, if Xeno doesn't get to it before me.

Not that I want to ruin the idea, but is it legal? I mean the music industry hasn't been pretty quiet lately when it came to sharing of music over the internet. The least Fchan needs is a law suit filed against it.

I'm pretty sure it's okay, given that we aren't sharing the music. I know that some artist sites do the same exact thing and they haven't come into any trouble for it.

Though, if anyone has any links that say otherwise, feel free to share.

do your best to keep the techno limited.  it baffles me how many furry conventions and furs enjoy techno so much...  there are other styles of music, so if the playlist is varied, I think everybody'll enjoy listening.

Yes, I am going to try and make a standard playlist with a LOT of music from all different genres. But I will also make a few genre specific ones for when people are in the mood for those, and may have a "Hard Rock Friday" or "Anime/Game Night" from time to time. Such events will probably be scheduled on the radio page, when we have it complete and linked to.

Friday is eternally Furry Friday.

Anyways, for my own self, I like a lot of 70's - 2000's rock and absolutely no other music genre. Megadeth, Cold, Ra, Avenged Sevenfold, Alice Cooper. Just to give some examples.

Hey Raven:  Thanks for doing this, I think it's a great idea.  I like anything, except R&B (but I don't mind rap).  If you could limit the country that would be cool.  That's just me though, I say a little everything (even R&B) is cool.

Sorry to those who got used to the stream, but it's going to be down for a bit longer. I've been very busy lately and have a lot to do before setting the music PC back up again (which includes messing with my internet).

I'll post here again when it's back up. Expect it some time this weekend, give or take a couple days.
