Question for Mods

What's your motivation? Seriously, no sarcasm intended. Why be an Fchan moderator? You're not like... paid, are you? Curiosity compels me to ask.

Is it the knowledge alone that you are helping sombody somewhere masturbate peacefully?

Every time someone downloads a picture off fchan, someone's first-born child is sacrificed in my name, in a dark and unholy ritual. After working for the site for a few months now, I've gained enough sacrifices to ascend to an abomination demi-god, and as my thousand burning eyes gaze with contempt and malice upon this pathetic world, I will tear the very fabric of reality apart in an orgy of fire and pain.

Yeah, this job really has its perks.

Okay, so seriously. Real reason.

Well, I guess it's kinda entertaining, really. It's hardly a difficult or stressful job, and let's face it, *someone* has to do the work or the site wouldn't be here at all. I don't mind being one of those someones. :)

Yeah, it's something like that. >:D

For real, I'm just trying to make a difference in the fandom. It's not about the porn.

what is the difference you are trying to make?
Couger.

I'm just trying to take an active part in the fandom, instead of sitting around and bitching about what sucks and needs to change. Sure, things may not change and I may never be comfortable with how people act or what goes on. But at least I can say I try to lead by example and stick with it, rather than whining and complaining on an internet journal or web forum while doing and contributing absolutely nothing.

So.. it's not so much that a difference is made. It's the trying part that counts.

very worthy cause and method of proceeding indeed.
peace out.
Couger.

I'll be honest: I don't know. :/

It's probably a combination of me being masochistically patient and understanding and the possibility to code here.

>>10 It's because Naida picked well.

That and someone has to wield the Hammer of Ban. Plus the fact that you are a artist helps. The /crits/ you deliver are always fantastic.

(((c(r+0)u)+f)/(#m))=x

c=choice
f=fchan
m=mod
r=reason
u=users
x=motivation

solution:
until fchan.meers do not need mods, leliel has reason to be here.

Actually, i was here long before Nadia. ^^
I fixed fchan back in february or january last year, when it had suffered the loss of its sql database.

Also, the other things are nice, but not stuff that gives ME a reason to be here. ;)

MySQL is a fucking pain in the arse. I don't know why so many people use it.

I think MySQL is actually quite fun.
Um, what else would you use?
Please don't say xml.

What exactly are you trying to change?  Personally, I wish this site was more accepting, and less anal about categorization.  I'm not sure what message compulsive categorizing is supposed to put across though.

An incomplete server move. The host simply forgot to move the database as well. ^^

Faster than to search through a file everytime someone wants to post something?

MySQL is easy if you bother to read the documentation.
