Anyone ever feel this way?

I've gone to both furry and anime conventions, and I see a difference: anime fans tend to be tolerant (within limits) towards others but are focused on celebrating anime, while furry fans tend to be focused on celebrating everything except furry and are demanding of acceptance!

At anime conventions, almost everyone is focused primarily on anime. On a whole, anime fans at conventions seem genuinely tolerant of gays, furries, and others, as long as you don't push it in their faces. However, if you try to push something non-anime onto anime fans, then they can get annoyed. And rightly so, because pushing something non-anime at an anime convention is like crashing a party! The fun of any convention is engrossing yourself into the sub-culture, forgetting about the rest of the world, and anyone pushing non-anime interests at an anime convention is polluting that fantasy.

At furry conventions, a significant number of people are something-furry, predominately gay-furry and goth-furry. And the furry part is secondary! There are more people wearing generic-gay fashion, and generic-goth fashion, than there are people wearing ears, tails or fursuits. Many of these people don't wear gay or goth fashion in their daily lives, but they dress up as gay or goth to go to a furry convention!!! As a result, furry conventions lack the vibe that anime conventions have, because there are all sorts of other interests vying for your attention at furry conventions.

The thing is, there are plenty of gay guys at anime conventions. I see guys holding hands, who are obviously couples. And there's more yaoi for sale than hentai, and there are guys buying it (not just fan-girls). However, when gay guys go to anime conventions, they are focused on the anime. They don't hide being gay, but they don't push their homosexuality in other people's faces either. But go to a furry convention, and it's the other way around. The focus is on the gay, and not the furry. They demand your attention and your acceptance. It's not enough to celebrate furry, they have to be engrossed in their particular lifestyle as well and all other lifestyles be damned!
