It just occurred to me yesterday why Fchan is running so slow lately after reading a random post on another board. its becuase the main URL "http://fchan.hentaiplanet.net/"; has apparently been down for days, and people being the way they are don't know about "http://fchan.no-ip.org/"; even through it been IN FRONT OF THERE FACES EVERYTIME THEY GO THROUGH FCHANS MAIN PAGE.... *ahem* sorry about that.

The point being, Xeno and raven/puck has said numerous times not to use the old url, yet such a vast amount of people ignore this and don't bother even to use bookmark the other url "just in case", that it had a huge impact on the board. enough to show tremendous slowdown {Most notably in /toon/, threads on the first page used to get knocked off the board in a matter of 24 hours, but sense the other url went down, its almost at a screeching halt. lol}

Its so odd for SO MANY PEOPLE {i'm guessing at LEAST 2/3} of Fchan's community are still thinking this place is down/gone just becuase they didn't read a few sentences on there big rush to the fap boards.

The moral of this story, and the TL,DR version is. PAY ATTENTION DAMMIT AND LISTEN TO THE MODS.

Um.. while I would have recommended saying this in a different way, you did make a point for us. Thanks, I guess.

However, with that said, I never told anyone not to use the main URL. I always use it when the DNS is working, and resort to no-ip.org only when it's not. But that's just my personal preference. If we didn't want anyone using the hentaiplanet.net address, we wouldn't still have it up!

I've seen it numerous times, but I've been relying on my memory so far.

Turns out that fchan.hentaiplanet.net is far easier to remember than fchan.no-ip.org... :/

I always use the no-ip.org link nowadays, the hentaiplanet link was constantly misbehaving on my computer.

While I don't think any of us really mind at all which URL people use, the no-ip.org one tends to be far more reliable in general. Having said that, I've just got the hentaiplanet one hardwired in my hosts file to get around DNS server problems anyway. ;)

i dont even go to the hentaiplanet url anymore because its the one that goes down all the time.      the no-ip one hasnt gone down once in the 6 months ive been using it...  where as the hentaiplanet one has gone down around once a month.

I haven't bothered to bookmark FChan since I got my new computer, since I rarely come here these days.  When I do want to look around I just Google for it, and it gives me the hentaiplanet address.  Just FYI.
