Yeah but if you are a kick ass artist and you are going to draw something anyway...why not enter the contest and win $100 since getting money from this fandom is usually next to impossible.

Nah, it's not impossible. It can just be really difficult if you don't have a really heightened business sense. A big part of this is because of how niche the fandom is.

I'd be surprised if someone won with a textual entry rather than an art piece.

But then again, as a writer, I'm cynical about how much artists are revered and how writers get shoved into the corners.

I prefere a good story over a picture any time.
Same for books and movies.

Not to sound derisive, but as it goes, anyone can write. Know what I mean? other art forms take a skill some people just haven't got.

In the mind of the average joe, a good story is just from an intelligent person.

A good drawing is exceptional talent, because they can't do it themselves.

Good music is like magic, because not only can't they do it, they have no clue how.

Sad but true.

Anyone can write? What? I seriously beg to differ. I think I've read enough things in books AND on the internet to know that it does take a certain kind of talent to do it well. I think most of us would have noticed that, especially just viewing some of the posts on this board.

Sheesh.

I didn't make post 8 but I do believe anyone can write. The question is whether they can write WELL. Most writers have decent enough ideas but they fail when it comes to grabbing readers interest and making them want to read more. Very few writers have that "can't put the book down" level of talent.

Most the stuff i've read from this fandom is just porn/fap material that is written so poorly I can't stand reading a few paragraphs much less pages worth of content.

Anyone can draw a stick figure, as well.

Like 10 was saying, writing is different from writing well.  Plenty of people have great ideas.  However, expressing these words is a true art form.  Maintaining pacing, flow, and proper density is key to ensure your readers will continue reading.  Even if your plot and characters are awesome, words slapped on like mayonnaise is a huge turn off to the readers.

Did you know that the left side of the brain is what you use when you write, and the right side of the brain is what you use when you draw?

It's kinda futile to argue over them. Ever. It's like pepsi vs coke or red vs blue.
