Hey, sorry if it turns out im just doing something stupid, but i can not see pictures i have saved where theres a extra . in it , which is what artists tend to do a lot now a days (z_1234567890_xcv.goldfish.jpg is a make believe example of the type of pic im talking about). Can anyone help me out?

So why don't you just get rid of the extra dot?

Sometimes computers tend to think that if there's a "." at the end of a file, the next words are the file formats (such as .gif, .jpg, .bmp, etc) Your computer probably thinks ".goldfish" is a file format. Just get rid of the dot.

>>4 thats pretty much whats going on, except i cant delete the ".". When i save files, it doesnt show the file like z_1234567890_xcv.goldfish.jpg when im saving it, which would let me delete the extra dot. it just shows it as z_1234567890_xcv . saving it as another type of file doesnt seem to work either

Sounds like your settings are causing the extensions to be hidden. If you're on Windows, go into Tools > Folder Options and make sure it isn't hiding filename extensions (I forget which tab this option is on, either View or Advanced I think?). If you're on a Mac, right-click on the file in question, select Get Info, and uncheck the "Hide extension" checkbox under "Name & Extension". You can also edit the full filename and extension as needed in the text box there.

Also, when you're saving the file in the first place, sometimes typing in the extension yourself (same as the format you've selected, of course) will work, since the computer then recognizes that you've entered a complete filename and that it doesn't need to add anything. Worth a try. :)
