Stupid adverts crashing Firefox 2.0.0.12

Who the hell's the person responsible for putting the full-screen takeover ads on fchan? It keeps showing the one for moli, whatever the hell that is, and bombing Firefox in the process.

Actually, not just moli is causing the crash. ANY "fchan is brought to you by..." takeover full-screen BS ad is causing the system to actually not just crash Firefox, but hard-lock the machine forcing poweroff.

Go to the firefox add-ons and extensions site and install adblock.  No more ads, no more crashes.

Screenshot or it didn't happen.

From "Several changes and clarifications in policy"

"7. Interstitial advertisements

Some advertisements on Fchan use the technique of so-called interstitials. These are fullscreen advertisements that should pop up once or twice a day, given that the browser has cookies enabled and that the networking software on the machine does not delete cookies. These advertisements all are accompanied by a button that either says "skip this ad" or "continue to site" or similar. Click these.

Any complaints about interstitial ads that are not accompanied by a screenshot of the offending ad will be deleted and repeat posters banned."

Actually, it's worser in IE if your trying to do multiple things at one time. You end up with five or more full page ads.

Why, I remember the good old days of non-adverts and a small DNP list where the mods were benevolent.

Adblock and NoScript Add-ons for Firefox. It's not that hard, people. Do you even TRY to do anything on your own or do you wait for everything being sliced and diced in small pieces before you eat? ;)

Kinda hard to post screenshots in a discussion-only forum. I'm getting the same problem with Camino and the Limbo ads. Two problems.

1. Despite having cookies-enabled, it won't let me see anything  without the ad popping up.
2. The ad wouldn't be so annoying if there were a way to continue onto the page I was looking at. It only gives me the options to "bookmark the ad", "create my own ad", or "come to our spam site".

I had to disable javascript to stop this redirecting POS script.

This anon speaks truth.

I've had full-page redirects crash IE, but it's never been able to crash the whole computer.

In IE, add *.adbrite.com to the Restricted Sites zone.  No more problems.

I just finished reformating and reinstalling this system after it was hijacked away and had win-cih plus anti cmos b these were installed via a popup script on one of your advertisers sites all before I had time to react.  I AM already running firefox, addblock and avggold. dont say its our/my fault,
fix your shit, this has now actually cost me time and money.

You are the only one reporting something like that, claiming that "something" on this site destroyed your system without giving any hint of what it is and when it happened. I'd say you failed. If you want to be constructive you have to do more than just rant about the invisible evil destroying us all.

Btw: Firefox, Adblock Plus and NoScript, I don't even see the ads on this site, not to mention that nothing here harms my system.

I also have been hit, but its much harder to infect wine-linux with windows viri. So the outcome was considerably less severe.
it has however been made clear that the admins do not wish to hear of trouble. so for the very largest part I have simply keeping my mouth shut.
count Me as at least person #2 with some level of problems.

You're lying. Flat out.

AntiCMOS.B is a DOS boot sector virus. That means your computer has to be running a windows version from BEFORE Windows 95 and you have to put in an infected floppy disk, which then infects your HDD's master boot record. It is flat out impossible for it to infect a computer from a popup, since no executable file exists. http://vil.nai.com/vil/content/v_10251.htm

CIH was a virus that was active in 1999 and 2002 but not afterwards due to to inbuilt timers. Since you claim you ARE running an antivirus program, it is flatout impossible that you were infected with such an old virus, and not even remotely likely for anyone to do that, since a remote operator would gain no advantages. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CIH_virus

Since you did not provide any hint as to the advertisement that supposedly infected you, nor any screenshots of ANYTHING showing the existence of these, and additionally made ridiculously hilarious claims as to which viruses you got, it is quite obvious that you are nothing but a troll. Piss off.

If you have been hit: Provide me with at least the NAME of the advertisement, or a screenshot of it and with a name of the virus you got as well as a detection screenshot. Otherwise i can only assume, as the post above nicely demonstrated, that you are a lying troll who's trying to spread FUD.
