I have a problem. The short of it is that my new dell laptop has a error on it. I am no longer able to connect to the internet through my modem or wireless! The only thing that it tells me is that it has a dependency error on it. I can't set up a new modem connection either, as the wizard to create it crashes. I also did a scan with AVG, but it turned up /nothing/. Any ideas? :/

You could start by asking at a forum set up to help with laptop problems..

Yeah I tried that, along with tech support, and nobody seems to know! I figured I'd try a variety of miscellaneous places on the net to see if anyone had some niche knowledge of this.

reinstall the driver or do a format if the driver thing dosn't work... A dependency error means what it is... something the program depends on has f*cked up or is deleted by accident.

Your best bet is /halp/ on 7chan -- they tend to be actually helpful there instead of 4chan /g/'s "delete System32, lol"

Just use a system restore? Seems to fix mine when everything decides to break itself.

I tried doing a system restore, but that didn't help at all. I'll check out 7chan then, and I think I -may- have inadvertantly deleted something crucial when I was trying to tidy up my computer. -_-

My brother has a Dell computer. I had to do a system reinstall on it one time because (and I'm not kidding) over 13 virus on it and was in full meltdown mode. Imagine my surprise after reinstall when I realized that Dell didn't sell the computer with driver discs! In order to find the drivers to enable internet connectivity (among other things) I had to lookup the computer model on Dell's support website using another computer, download the missing drivers, burn them to a CD, and then install them on my brother's computer. Moral of the story: try downloading the drivers from Dell's website.

>>10 Protip: Never go into the C drive when deleting files for cleanup, let a program like Cleanup or CCleaner do that for you.
