What got you into the furry fandom?

(in voice of dr evil) It all started when I had an unsuccessful relationship with a furry I met as a child who lived in my head and gave me porno and some sex.

When they left me I get upset but then in my routine porno gathering one day I found a picture of a furry just like them and almost plotzed.

after that I became kind of obsessed with finding out if they were on the net and i found more and came to realize that all the world was as i was.

also i found jace artwork and couldn't believe my eyes, he drew stuff i thought about my whole life, and it still scares the hell out of me.

(NORMAL VOICE) I GET THE GOLD FOR WEIRD, you wouldn't believe how much weirder my life is offline

back in 2001 i found a website called nastyhentai.com and it had porn of digimon and pokemon on it, and random furry porn. and for some reason i got turn on by it, and ever since i have been a furry porn lover. tho i DO NOT wear fursuits or go to those lame cons, or have a fursona. i like the furry porn alot so sue me. but i still appreciate anthropomorphic characters like those in all the childrens cartoons that i still enjoy watching (NOT to wank to).

fursuit sex is utterly unappealing to me.

There's no way to phrase this without it sounding like trolling, but I swear to god...

I was shown the furry fandom when I was 13 years old by the local pizza delivery guy who was into the fandom because he was a bestialist and he thought I'd make a good bestialist, too... Since then, I've moved on to embrace the fandom and moved away from bestiality in general, and he went crazy and killed his dogs and hasn't been heard from since. Come to think of it, would that also make him pedo? Considering all the ways that situation turned out, enjoying furry porn is probably all for the best, I think. That, and enjoying the presence of humans (albeit them furries) to dogs...

I swear to god this is true and I'd sign an affidavit to the effect...

I knew a dirtbag, er, I mean friend of the family who was into bestiality and all sorts of sex, I think he's wanted for murder now in a couple of places.

I also think he's dead now, probably shot himself, I wouldn't be surprised. he was the pedo sort too.

I've answered this before, but I agree it's a cool topic.

For me, two words: Jeremy Bernal.

I was looking through some p2p software and came across an archive named something like "sasha - hot art.zip". I don't know why exactly, but I downloaded it. A few days later I was going through the crap I'd downloaded and extracted the files.

My first encounter with furry was Sasha (http://sexyfur.com/Tour/tour1_fullpage.jpg) and I was hooked.  I looked for as much other stuff by Bernal as I could and downloaded it all.  Pretty soon I realized he wasn't the only one that drew art like that and I found VCL and fchan. It was pretty much all downhill from there :)

In b4 cliché: In hindsight it's interesting because I was always into cartoons with anthro animals (Disney, etc) so no big surprise I like furry art as much as I do.

I drew anthropomorphic characters starting in the 1970's. I had an sffinty for cats, and drew (or at least attempted to draw) the cartoon ones I watched on television, notably Tom of 'Tom and Jerry' (which was an utter failure), and Filmation's 'Secret Lives of Waldo Kitty' (which came out better only because I traced them off a paused videotape).

Later on in high school, DIC's 'Heathcliff/Cats & Co' debuted, and I started drawing fanart of them. Just as I was starting to get good at it, my art teacher at the time told me I'd get far more accolades for drawing my own original creations than I would for drawing someone else's property. So I created a small group of feline characters that I built upon over the years. Most of those who saw my work liked what I did (mostly because I drew them wearing recognizable fashions), which provided encouragement to keep at it.

Maybe ten years later I plugged the term 'anthropomorphic' into a search engine on my first Internet connection in '97, discovered the FurRing, and came to realize there was a fandom centered around the kind of material I happened to be good at.

I never subscribed to the notion of a 'fursona', you couldn't get me into a costume at gunpoint (the term 'zooting' sends chills down my spine), but I did attend Anthrocon the following year, because I saw that it was a good place to meet other artists (which turned out to be true). And that's pretty much the same reason I still attend them. It's no more 'extreme' than going to computer shows or train meets or comic/anime conventions.

As for the porn angle, freed from the influence of YERF's newsgroups and forums, I've come to the conlclusion that the ones wailing about it the loudest aren't actually concerned about the actual quantity of it vs clean artwork like they say (FA's admins keep saying their numbers indicate only 20% of the uploads are marked 'adult'), but they're disturbed that it exists at all (in which case anime fandom is the coming Apocalypse, going by what I see on 4chan's /h/ board).

Been drawing anthropomorphic creatures for longer than I knew that the furry fandom existed.  One day, my friend throws a link at me to go read a comic.  The comic interested me enough that I signed up at the forum there, and that brought me into the rest of this business.

Porn-wise, I prefer it to be drawn, and, although I prefer it to be human, a good portion of drawn-human porn that I FIND is anime, and I really don't want that.  At all.  Seems to be significantly less of that in here.

I have no problem saying I'm in a part of the fandom, and that I contribute to it, but... uh... I don't consider myself a 'furry'.  That just comes from being insanely picky with terms, though.

Ugh, damn this picky-ness.

i can't pinpoint it. I want to say mousegirls because that's what i'm into. I think it because i met this artist at an anime con. then curiosity made me look up the art and none of it appealed to me..until i seen a sexy mousegirl. So i specialize in drawing mousegirls and i have a huge collection of mousegirl pics.

I really hate furry fanart because i feel uncomfortable seeing my childhood favorites fucking. (i.e. tiny toon pron) it feels ewww.

I have to say, I've always enjoyed non human characters.  My first exposer to them, was as many, Disney's Robin Hood, and then others, Looney toons, Tom and Jerry, and most notably, for me anyway, was S.W.A.T Kats. I loved that show.

To me, the idea of an anthro character is just appealing on some level, and when I do role play on a chat site I'm on most of the time, almost all of my characters are anthro, not neko mind you, but full on anthro.

My first and oldest charcter was that way.

The porn matter is, meh. You'll find that no matter where you go, look an Anime for example. But, and I'll be honest here, I truly love the clean non smut artwork.

But it always seems to be few and far between

The proportion of porn to clean work in furry is much higher though. Only in this fandom would the most-awaited, most-hyped comic release of the year be gay furry porn. (I'm talking about Heathen City. I'm so upset that they had to go and make it smut. Dammit.)

Quoted from Wikipedia:
"In Western cultures, dōjinshi is often perceived to be derivative of existing work, analogous to fan fiction and almost completely pornographic. This is partly true: dōjinshi are often, though not always, parodies or alternative storylines involving the worlds of popular manga or anime series, and many of them feature overtly sexual material."

Not just furry, eh? Seems to be the case anyplace fan-generated media predominates.

well lets see...i guess it all started with my love for Miles Tails Prower (typical i know), but at first i didnt look at porn of him...didnt even cross my mind...i just looked up pictures of him normally and attempted to draw him and stuff, then one day i stumbled across some dirty pics of him :p and i liked it, so i continued to search and for a while i really only looked at Tails hentai, and a bit of the rest of the gang..then i just decided to expand my search for furry stuff when i was convinced that i had seen basically all the Tails porn that was out there (at the time)
my search led me to palooza.com (which im think isnt around anymore) on there i met someone that i managed to trade e-mails with b4 palooza got shut down..we chatted a little but mostly shared our furry porn, he had stuff i wanted and i had stuff he wanted, then he told me about Fchan and sent me a linkm and ive been here ever since :p

I liked furries when I met one I was trying to beat in an art contest. she won, but I liked her.
then I began searching her art and said to myself "that looks like alot of other art I see.. I wonder what the genre is"
so then I joined /b/ a few months ago and learned about the internets.

that's when I got into all "yiff in hell furfags" and I be hatin' ... then I came here as a troll, and found /ah/ and I loved the gore thread. plus, I find this a good outlet for my art.

so...I only got into furries like.... at the beginning of june.

I met some friends from the Internet in the real world one day when they came to see their family; I was 15 at the time, they were about my age and we sat and talked.

I asked them what they did in their home town of Dallas, they said they went to conventions. I asked what type, they said Anthro-Con. I never even heard of it (because I live in Australia), they explained about what it's about and all that, Jay showed me some photos of his fursuit, a stag, and Chelsea got me into Jim Hardiman comics.

We met up at some conventions and that stuff down in Melbourne.
The furry fandom was really fun and inviting, so here I am. Fchan's just as great.

My parents made me go to bed really early and I would imagine up things to keep me occupied.  Most involving what it would be like to be other animals.  As puberty hit these melded with images of what sex might be (still a very blurry concept to me at the time) and anthro characters in my nightly imaginings just sort of showed up naturally alongside the aliens from MIB.

Fast forward to 2002 when I stumbled onto Andy Dick's website on accident and saw a certain pic of Mary Ann Tigress.  Well, thats when I realized that my imagination was not totally alone in this area of thought and I suppose I kept exploring furry-dom mostly out of sheer curiosity to this day.

This is a copy and pase from the post I wrote before in the clean section under "your path to Furrydom".

Let's see. I think the thing that made me a furr was the movie The Lion King. The movie was out in theaters and I was just a preteen not even attracted to girls yet. In the movie there was a seen where Simba and Nala were playing around and tumbled down a hill. Simba ended up laying on top of Nala and then they zoomed in on Nala's face and she gave Simba a look that seemed to say, "Wanna make out?" And BOOM, not only was that the thing that made me a furry, but it was also the thing that triggered my attraction to women. However, I didn't know what I was yet.

A couple of years later I bought a Playstation game called Bloody Roar. For those who don't know, Bloody Roar was a fighting game in which the character could change in to a wear-wolf, wear-cat, wear-rabit, and other things in mid combat. That game is what made me realize that I was a furry. It influenced my day dreams, and wet dreams, for a long time. At times I would even pause the game in such a way that the camara was looking up the bunny girl's skirt at her panties. One time my mother cought me masturbating to the game, but bless her sweet heart she pretended not to notice and left the room. I love you Mom! However, I still didn't know that there were other people like me or that words like furry and yiff existed.

A couple years later I was surfing the net for porn when I ran across a site called Yiff.ru. Up to this point I had never seen any furr porn, but there it was! I couldn't believe it! They had some stuff from Dr. Comet, TDK, J. Bernal and others, and I knew there were people out there like me. That was one of the best nights of my life.

I'm still here mainly looking for Storm Hawks stuff, I like m/f or m/m featuring human/anthro or anthro/anthro, so that means m/f and m/m of Repton and Stork either with humans (I'd love to see adult art of Repton and Starling) or with other anthros

I guess it came from my childhood. Well, Mum and Dad bought some videos (like Bambi, Dumbo and Beauty and the Beast) but the ones that stuck out was Who Framed Roger Rabbit and Robin Hood. It must of been Maid Maddilin (forgive my spelling), because she just appealed to me.

I have some terrible memories though, my dad killed himself when I was eight and I had a tyrant of a stepdad. Just 2 days after Dad's death, stepdad to me on a hunting trip, he killed a kangaroo, gutted it, and told me to carry it back up to camp site. While walking back up there, the roo's open ribs swung around and I was practically inside it's chest cavity. All it veins and arteries were still pulsating, it was a grotesque and surreal experience. After that I was beaten for being 'too slow'. More random and sensless killings happened after that.

Fast forward some years, I found the furry sub-culture from a friend after catching him, ahem, 'beating the meat' to a yiff flash. He took me to some sites and conventions, it was good natured unlike that CSI episode. Everyone was really nice and kind, so I continued to look into the furry culture

Problem was, I didn't have a clue what it's name was and kept a lookout for it.
