I know fchan considers nekos and other humans with animal tails and ears furry. I disagree with that but the mod's personal opinions don't bother me.

The problem I have is the drama that neko threads bring to fchan.

While fchan mods have decided nekos are furry, a wide collection of the fandom disagrees...and a lot of furries are vocal about what they think. (read:opinionated)

To avoid drama I ask that neko threads be kept out of general threads and be moved to /a/

Well, I agree that they aren't furry an all that, but I don't think that they should be regulated to /a/ or /ah/. I've always thought that they fitted better in /toon/.

Rofl, /a/?
Nekomimi, ie.cutesy anime girls with ears and a tail are now on a par with (and I quote)  "Multiple Arms", "Furries Licking Armpits", "Multicocks"

Toon I'd agree with, but I think if you took a vote you'd find most people don't have a problem with them, I posted a lot of content in both the currentneko threads and I've barely seen anyone kick up a fuss, let alone a majority.

The /s/ thread 2 people spoke out against it, in a thread which is now 1 month old and has over 160 pictures.

The /f/ thread, which is comparatively new, has nobody speaking out against it, and has well over 50 pictures posted already.

That's over 200 pictures posted by people who approve of them enough to save and post the images, and only 2 people have actually made an issue oftheir presence =p

I started the /s/ thread. There was a few complainers but most people passed over it without comment (Which is what you OUGHT to do, damn it. I don't troll "scat redux" threads with 'OMG! You are sick perverted bastards."

The /m/ people universally don't want a thread. That's what I more or less expected-- the gayfurs want gigantic muscley beefcake men and not girly men.

The /f/ thread has almost no problems.

My advice is to ban neko from /m/ but leave it anywhere else.

Given, I don't like anything that resembles bois (or prissy chicks, even)...

Dunno why.  I guess it's just part of my Amazonian complex.  xD  I kid: I'm rambling and being silly.  And saying that it's not just gay men browsing /m/, I guess.

Nekos shouldn't be in /a/.

Let me fix that for you "(read:can't shut the fuck up about a thread they can easily just skip over to enjoy the rest of what the board has to offer.)"

There has never been more than ONE neko thread at any given time. Continued bitching about neko outside of IRC or /dis/ should result in a fucking ban.

What wall are you talking about? Unless you OPEN the topic you have to scroll past a maximum of 2-3 pictures where as when you faggots bitch in my neko thread I have to scroll past like 10-15+ posts.

You can't compare your wall of text to 3 freaking pictures getting in the way of your precious furry.

These anons speak truth.

If you don't like seeing two pictures, why are you clicking into a thread to see the total of 100 or so pictures there? Any why are you bumping that thread if you don't like it?

TLKFan at 2 Sep 2008: 07:04

The reason why some others might feel so strongly about the anime kitty girl images might be that they think they look kinda generic ("who's she anyway?") and a bit bland, to them.

And maybe a little fear plays into it as well. Fear of the 'actual' furry images mixed up with nekogirls resulting in a very washed out and watered down version of the world of furry art, if the nekogirls don't mix well. Maybe they're overwhelmed with the sheer number of those nekogirls when you mix it into the furry image bucket. It could be just that, because there are, literally, thousands and more thousands of these images that - to some people - all look more or less the same.

On a personal note, I believe the Anime kittygirls (dressed up or with the ears, nose and tail firmly attached) are borderline furry, but I have a huge collection myself and I love'em to death... I'd always put them in toon if I make a thread about them, though.

WTF? Toon is meant for stuff drawn in a toony STYLE. Not for "characters from animated movies". Try reading the board descriptions sometime.

Mods can change board descriptions. It isn't that hard.

Or were you saying we don't have a place to stick them. If that's the case why don't we just tell people to post nekogami in one of the hundreds of sites designed for them, and keep these non-furry creatures off the site.

They are not anthro animals.
They are not animals with human traits.
They are humans with animal ears and tails.
"Catgirls are generally not considered a furry, as their animal traits are simply kawaii-ifications add-ons to an otherwise human character." - wikifur

They are by definition "Humanoid" Like elves or ogres.

27Report

>>26
The only requirement for being considered a "humanoid" is "having human characteristics or form."  All those anthropomorphic characters this fandom is so fond of fit into that category just as easily.

I would say the "furry" spectrum ranges from complete animal (insentient beast) to fully human.  A lot of people have specific preferences as to where on that bar the characters they like looking at are closer to.  Nekos and catgirls are just closer to the human end of that spectrum.

Personally, I like my characters to be more human with the animal stuff thrown in as a little spice.

As far as I can tell, everybody is putting images of characters from animated movies or series in there, regardless of what it's supposedly there for. I'd say if the majority of the people, or "nature", flows that way, make the rules work for them, not against them.

I don't think the board is meant for toons only. Meaning, Roger Rabbit, Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Pink Panther and what have you? Anime, Zeichentrick, CG Animation and regular Animation of all kind as well as still images or video game roles of characters befitting such sources should be placed there.

In my opinion. Remember that. Just an opinion.

WTF does hating a fandopm that seems to be chock full of moronish-wankers have to do with a pissing contest between fetishes? I don't see where a fetish is necessarily involved at all, since he certainly never mentioned one.

Unless 'fandom' and 'fetish' has suddenly become synonymous for some of you, in which case that's just one more reason to hate the fandom - The stupidity just gets worse and worse over time.

The arguement people were levelling against nekos was it was essentially "killing their boner having to scroll past".

Supposedly everything on this site is from the furry fandom, and people don't usually get boners over sub-sets of a fandom. (God I hate having to scroll past tonnes of your ugly ferengi to get to those sexy klingons), so it seems fair to assume people have a fetish, not a fandom.

Also, look up: "Sarcasm quotes"

I am, that's the easy part. I was simply pointing out what's actually happening. So, if you can deal with that too, even though it's not really used stricly by that toon-only regulation you've mentioned before, we're all happy (enough).
