If there is one thing I hate more than anything, it's people who steal other people's work and outright deny it. Case in question: http://www.furaffinity.net/user/trias/ Has not only ripped off http://www.furaffinity.net/user/fossil/ he's admitted that his characters are identical, but somehow aren't the same "people".

Just thought I'd bring this little scumbag to light.

People who deserve garbage will get what's coming to them.
Also, bring it to the attention to the people at FURAFFFINITY, not the people here.  There's a forum over there, why do people ignore its existence?  Seriously, there's a section for reporting people!

As an aside, not talking about this directly, but I love how freaked out furries get over character theft.  Someone freaked out because there was a lizard with the same colors as a very bland and generic lizard that I draw.
Bland and generic.
So when I find something that's also bland and generic, but just happens to have the same colors as something I've drawn, I don't really care.

I have this original character that looks exactly like Vincent Valentine but he acts nothing like him. It's like when I think of him in my mind he's my character because he is totally original in his way of personality and dealing with situations.

Of course in this case the original design being stolen is generic as hell so what exactly is there to steal? That's like saying that if someone draws a white wolf and then I draw a white wolf i'm somehow stealing their OMGORIGINALDESIGNDONOTSTEAL

But this isn't about generic characters. Fossil has a very distinct style that you instantly know it's him and not someone like Lord Stevie (confused with sometimes, but also has his own style of art).

This Trias guy has stolen Fossil's designs and just changed the names and colors. Christ, look at the triceratops girl! Right down to the amount of lines draw in her brow-bones!

Obviously this guy was highly influenced by fossils artwork so his/her style is going to be identical in some sort of way. However at least hes -drawing- art himself instead of just erasing the tag and putting his own over it. They will either crumble under pressure or switch to another subject.

This is a furry topic about furry art. If this doesn't belong here what does?

>>6
Exactly. There are a lot of artists out there that if you look closely enough you can see who they are influenced by. Eventually this Trias guy will gain enough talent to change his style, make it his own and then he will probably abandon all these "rip off" designs.

I've seen it dozens of times because I knew lots of artists through my childhood and they all at one point "copied" designs to a certain extent before finally moving on to their own style and own designs. Stop making such a big deal over this. The guy ADMITS he is directly influenced from Fossil. That's a hell of a lot better than people who say "NO ITS MY CHARACTER THERE IS NO RELATION WHATSOEVER"

It's a 'furry topic' but it's a Furaffinity issue, thus belongs on the forums at Furaffinity.

There are surely better ways to have started this thread, if we wanted to discuss people using styles of other artists.  However, the thread was not started that way, it was started in a "Hey, look at this guy on Furaffinity who is copying this other artist's style! He's trash!" way.
