"Paw" and similar furry words

I hope I can explain my idea clearly.
You know how people use the terms like "paw off" and similar mixing of animal anatomy to human actions? I was wondering what you guys here felt on the use of these phrases coined by the furry community.
I personally hold the opinion that it is fine to sound cute or to describe artwork where drawn anthropomorphic animals are in use. Aka, limited and appropriate use.
But when users on forums simply take their hands and replace it with paw for every day conversation (or any other part of their body for that matter), I feel it draws the line. For example, I went to a board and in one of the threads, there was a debate going on about an artist. And one user said (paraphrasing) "On one paw, I like his artwork, but on the other paw, I don't like getting into conversations with him." To be honest, overused furry speak like this is one of the main reasons why I don't advertise my enjoyment of furry artwork and porn. But hey, most people group every furry into the crazy fursuiting/second life player category anyway.

I don't think it matters one way or another.  The only place I kinda like it is as an indicator that you're talking about something furry.  I don't 'paw off' to normal porn but I have no problems pawing off to furry porn.

Used in appropriate context and in a reasonable amount I like it. Like anything, however, it can be overused.  I think it's a lot like "geek speak", "ghetto talk", and "s'mhow makin' ev'ry w'rd a cont'r'ct'n".  Excess is annoying.

I don't like geek speak of any kind if it's fucking shoehorned into every conversation. Use it sparingly.

It's like when people quote Dave Chapelle and RUIN the joke. It got so fucking old hearing women, kids and men who can't even do the joke justice saying "IM RICK JAMES BITCH"

People just can't seem to help running everything into the fucking ground. I always use pop culture, slangs and geek jokes sparingly to keep them fresh where as the average person says "i'm rick james bitch" in every fucking conversation for 2 months straight till everyone stops laughing.

TLDR; stop using furry terminology every time you type or open your mouth

It's the internet. If furries want to come across as their fursonas and such on the internet...let them. It's just like roleplaying. Only...sorta different.

Now, in real life, on the other hand... Rage at it then.

Also, >>5, memes are completely different from this situation.

When people use the term "pawed off" - that makes me a sad panda.

Even in 'furry' contexts it just sounds stupid.

Same goes with the word "yiff".

Do it if you like ... I'm not stopping anyone ... it'll just make you sound stupid IMO.

I think that it's corny, but it also serves as a good indicator that you're dealing with a fucking idiot. For example, when a "dwaggin" says shit like "Tomorrows my hatchiday!" I know to avoid any and all conversation with them in the interest of the integrity of what's left of my sanity.

My internet persona is a dragon...And I've never referred to my birthday as my "hatchday"..... Maybe I should just to annoy people, LUL.

Nah, I'm perfectly fine with not using some terms other people use.

It's the internet, if people wanna use terms like that...it's their choice.
But when they do it in real life.....THEN it's absolutely annoying.

Though, it's annoying even on the internet, if overused. Use it in moderation. ...I do, sometimes...When bored, and only amongst really good friends of mine.

I just had my hatchday but on the other claw I can see how it might be annoying to certain fursecutionists that us superior dragons have our own dialects. But for fur sake, just get over it. We are scalie and proud, we are furry and loud, we will do what we want because ......screw this. Making myself rage.

I agree with most people here.  Please use weird internet euphamisms responsibly, thousands of braincells die each day on forums across the globe as people recklessly drive new words into the english dictionary.

It's really annoying, corny, and stupid. But that's not going to stop its overuse. People will be people. Personally, I just keep scrolling when I see stupidity. And if it happens IRL, I just leave. If they're going to make you angry, what's the point in talking to them anyway?

As >>12 said, it's a good indicator of an idiot. That's probably all it's good for.

That's pretty damn scary. Furry corrupted the rest of the Internets!

I think its cute, sometimes... in character... but i think like any slang or non-technical kind of jargon its too easy to overdo it... think about this... the Vulcan greeting/farewell thing... or just holding your hand up and saying "may the force be with you" ...sure its amusing and cool to do, every so often, to people who can appreciate it...

but DAMNIT the people who do that kind of crap ALL THE TIME... or people who respond to every online gaming gripe, legitimate or otherwise, with the phrase "QQ" grow some fucking "IQ" for the sake of all that is sacred and holy! sorry, somewhere among the paws and yiff i went onto a tangent into nerdraging and a segway about gamers followed... speaking of segways...
