Where'd you see the trailer? It's not online, at least not officially

Wow, It looks great. From what I can tell from the trailer it looks like it's going to be similar to "Dances With Wolfs", but with a crazy outta-dis-world twist, and plenty of action. Not to mention James Fucking Cameron!!!

I admit it looks interesting, even if it gives you NO idea what the hell is going on.

If I were going to guess, I'd guess it will be a lot like the first Transformers movie.  Very, very beautifully rendered with breath-taking effects, but with a mediocre story and dialog.

I love fantasy, but it never seems to have the same pull as a contemporary drama or completely futuristic adventure. Maybe part of that is because I always feel a little let down after watching or reading very good fantasy -- it leaves you a little disappointed with the real world :(

The aliens look horrible in my opinion, like something out of an 80's cartoon. I don't mean that as a compliment either.

Everything else about it is great.

Ooooh, I got chills watching this one - that smile that breaks across his face when he sees the whatsit in the tank; "This is great" when he becomes the critter - spoken like a true furry! (And they've got tails, too.)

He's not a furry but I won't spoil the story for you on why he said "this is great"

Holy crap, I literally just watched the trailer and read some stuff on it on IGN like 5 minutes ago.

I definitely wouldn't call this furry, perhaps the line between what is and isn't furry are being so blurred that it pretty much means anything non-human.

Looks very interesting though.

"perhaps the line between what is and isn't furry are being so blurred that it pretty much means anything non-human."

For me, 'furry' means anything mixing human and animal. A bit broader than most peoples' definition, but it works for me.

Looks pretty good visually, but im worried about everyone jumping on the District 9 bandwagon and making a bunch of different movies about nearly the same thing.

15Report
at 24 Aug 2009: 10:34

Because movies only take, like 2 months to write, film, act out, and produce? Avatar probably started production not long after District 9.

Dude, James Cameron has been working on Avatar since 1994.  That aside, the movie has basically nothing in common with District 9 other than having aliens in it.

Are you kidding? Like seriously...you HAVE to be kidding. Or are you one of those people stupid enough to say things like "Gears of War invented third person cover systems" and "Halo invented FPS with aliens"?

Does anyone know if the main guy's mind actually goes into the avatar or is it just synced uP? Like the humans could just disconnect his mind from whatever machine and stop his rebellious avatar body? I would feel better seeing it knowing it was permanent without him being stopped so easy.
