Artist Temperament

How do furry artists behave, based on your experience? From what little I've seen browsing through FA and anywhere else, they tend to appear grumpy or anti-social to others except their very close circle of friends.

This is just out of curiosity and wanting to find out more without ticking off those that  have more sour dispositions just from asking.

Well, once you get popular you get hundreds of furries trying to mooch porn of their derpsona off you, do creepy "yiff" roleplaying in your comments, or buddy up with you in an attempt to someday get their character drawn by you. You also get the idiots that will draw a lame scribbling of something, send it to you, and then demand porn of their character as a "trade." Sometimes if you offend the wrong person they'll send their fanboy army after you to shit up your shout and comments section with abuse.

You also get people constantly hounding you to draw more porn if you don't draw enough, and you never will. Even furry artists hate furries.

It varies drastically.  Some people are insane antisocial people, some people are extremely friendly.  Your best bet is to lurk and scope out a person for a while before trying to talk at them.

Learn to draw, well, then draw furries, then draw furry porn.
Then find out for yourself.

Befriending yourself with artists is hard, as a large percent of the time people who've tried to befriend them in the past do it for free art, they're wary and distrustful due to a lot of unnecessary drama by self-entitled fans that ruin it for EVERYONE.

And some artists are plan jerk-wads. A simple hello, I'm a fan and gradual "How you doing?" every other day or so, do not be a prying creepo though, asking precisely what they do or their interests too much.

Basically what you wouldn't do to a stranger or even famous person at a bus stop etiquette. This includes fucking HUGS, even INTERNET HUGS, it makes them have internet spine shivers.

Don't be upset if your fav turns out to be a sour-puss though, best to just take your viewings else where until they learn they might be able to draw good doesn't mean they can be asshats.

As an artist myself of a measurable degree of notoriety.  I'll say that most artists are basically self absorbed ass hats even to other artists so I really can't imagine how they are with their fans.  The moment they realize you're not there to talk about how awesome they are or what your favorite pic of theres is, they have zero interest in talking to you.

Not all, but I'm not kidding when I say 80% of the one's I have contacted were like this.  I also hear a lot of stories for the furries I chat with about their dealings with artists that were pretty similar to my own.  It's shameful really.

Not sure what circle of artists you are dealing with but my experience has been 80% of the artists I dealt with have been very friendly, sociable and kind.  I think many of the issues comes from overdemanding fans rather than the artists.  After a while its easy to tell who is sucking up for free art and those who are genuinely interested in knowing a bit more about the artist they enjoy.  Also many of the more popular artists are constantly inendated with Emails so short replies may be interpreted as snobery when they are just trying to answer all their mail and still have a life outside the fandom.

Agreed.
From the sound of 5's post they may enter the" 80%" which is in fact 20% in -my- sole experience, not in a vast assumption about the entire fandom which is RIDICULOUS.

It'd be hard to say, as no one has ever made contact with 100% of the artists in the fandom....so false percentage ahoy....what's even more funny is I bet they only talked to the artists -they- admire....not the one's who are just beginning and learning to draw for themselves which are the MAJORITY...

THAT is the only problem I have with artists....when I was a beginner no one wanted to do nothing with me save a handful of genuinely sweet people, now I can draw they all want to be butt-buddies and have an art trade with me.

Same problem I have with 5% of the fans -I- have, not all those contained within the fandom because I'm not egotistical enough to brag such a percentage on the entire fandom instead of my sole experience :| no one cares about you if you can't draw/make something for others, yet when you do they want to know your life story and crawl up your ass to nest there.

Every part of the fandom is a double-edged sword, get popular and called a snob because you haven't time to say hello and butt-pat 2000+ watchers [the 5%] that love you -for your art-.
Or don't draw and be a shadow.

Hell even being a commissioner with a sizable gallery from different artists you get called a richfag.

In or out the fandom there will be bitter people.

Furry artists, or "fartists" as I call them, are some of the most rancid, parasitic, assholish tards around. They reek of assbergers and severe autism. They literally shit on paper, demand PAYMENT and endless praise for their shit, as if they're a REAL artist, then when they don't get it, they pout and whine and cause drama-galore. None of them draw for fun, they're all just a bunch of attentionwhoring, antisocial leeches.
