Art critique and advice; beginner artists are welcome to post here; includes an oekaki. (NO FLAMES)

Artists, read before posting!

Before you post your art to ask for critique, please read these tutorials. They explain the basic principles of drawing and figure drawing. Most posts where these basics are missing will never get a response, as people are quite frankly sick and bored of explaining over and over that you would have to pretty much learn how to draw first, before you could improve.

These were brought to my attention by Aeresque#Artist. Courtesy of Scribd: Drawing the Human head, Drawing Dynamic Hands, Dynamic Figure Drawing
And for those of you who want it a bit easier, we also have the whole thing as one neat rar with all three books in pdf form.

NEW! These were brought to my attention by MajorTom in #fchan. Courtesy of Andrew Loomis: Creative Illustration, Drawing the Head and Hands, Eye Of The Painter, Figure drawing for all it's worth, Fun with a Pencil, Successful Drawing, Drawing Dynamic Hands.

If you think you know a good basic tutorial that would fit in here, feel free to contact me under Xenofur in IRC and I will add the link.

Hi guys, I drew this and am wondering two things:

Is it any good, and what would be the best way to color it? I tried using Gimp and it came out horribly.

It should be made law that anyone posting an image larger than the maximum width/length of 1100px, shall NOT receive crits and instead be taunted for being a permanewb.

Before anyone argues that larger sizes is better for redlining, I argue that it turns people AWAY from redlining as they see all the extra flaws up close and amplified. Thought you saved it to fix one problem only to be bombarded by HUNDREDS in the hi-res.

Potential critiquer's eyes raped and mood spoiled, and poster gets no help, nobody wins. It also drives people away, one of the reasons so many old pros left.

So do us all a favor and post only medium-websized images.

Yes, #1165, I should have noticed that the file was rather large, but in my haste to upload it I missed that. Also, looking at it now I am beginning to notice things like the fact that the eyes are too small and the abdominal muscles are completely wrong.

Oh well, please crit anyway if you have any tips on how to make the final better!
