Artists, read before posting!

Before you post your art to ask for critique, please read these tutorials. They explain the basic principles of drawing and figure drawing. Most posts where these basics are missing will never get a response, as people are quite frankly sick and bored of explaining over and over that you would have to pretty much learn how to draw first, before you could improve.

So I'm drawing a little elk TF bit, but there are some bits that are just erking my that I'm not entirely sure what to do with. Bits in particular being the twist in the lower back, the left hand (which was more of a placeholder anyway), and getting the proper perspective I wanted.
Any suggestions I could get to make this look better?

The back looks very short and the twist very sudden. It is most likely due to how much of the flat of his back we are seeing as well as that arc across his ribcage.
The back leg, the one with the final portion of the leg facing us, could probably be stretched out more to show the length of the leg and generally make it more appealing. Foreshortening can be epic, but in this case it's somewhat unnecessary. While it may be more plausible for him to angle the leg toward us, it's a rule that you can break for artistic reasons.
In general, the picture looks awkward. I feel that this actually enhances the image, given the content, and you can exaggerate it by giving the image a bit more of a tilt in any one direction, see what makes it more uncomfortable and go with it.
I would like to see whatever your finished or at least most completed version of this, as I like it on an aesthetic level.
