Art critique and advice; beginner artists are welcome to post here; includes an oekaki. (NO FLAMES)

Artists, read before posting!

Before you post your art to ask for critique, please read these tutorials. They explain the basic principles of drawing and figure drawing. Most posts where these basics are missing will never get a response, as people are quite frankly sick and bored of explaining over and over that you would have to pretty much learn how to draw first, before you could improve.

And for those of you who want it a bit easier, we also have the whole thing as one neat rar with all three books in pdf form.

If you think you know a good basic tutorial that would fit in here, feel free to contact me under Xenofur in IRC and I will add the link.

Long Overdue Need for Open Critique

I'll be blunt. I hate critique and I don't take it well.
However it's been forever since I've actually gotten any poor word on my artwork. Most of it has just been kind compliments. I'm normally fine with this, but I need to know if there are any parts of my work that can be quickly and efficiently improved.

Necks are wider at the top than bottom (except in the case of really large muscles) or about equal the whole way. The slight difference as well as the equal width are both very complimenting to a feminine figure, so I would suggest using them.

Work on hands. You have one that you're not using, surely, so you can study it in real time. The issue I'm seeing right now is just general proportions. I am worried about that thumb length It should go to the first bend in the finger (or halfway between it and the base, if you so prefer that downplaying style).
Another reason you should work with hands is that it really flattens the ball. We should not see the underside of those fingers at all, given the size and shape of a basketball.

And uhh
I definitely thought this was a chick until I looked at your page on FA.
I do like it though, you have skill and a lot of potential.
