Hahaha, another one hides in shame of his past works.
Tell me if this 'fandom' is so 'artsy' why would they have such a problem with people knowing they draw smut? Suckas. If you're that yeller bellied you shouldn't draw it in the first place and leave inappropriate art forms to folks that can actually handle criticism. Maybe you children WOULD be better off with rampant piracy. If I wouldn't feel so dirty ordering something (much less touching it) I would join in myself.

Dear god. The artist gene must be on the same helix as the total-fucking-overreaction gene.

Artists own their work, and can do what they want with it, but that still doesn't make it any less irritating when they pull all of their work offline for "personal reasons."

Does it never occur to these people that there are others that actually *enjoy* looking at their work? That maybe, just maybe, might be a bit distraught or annoyed if it were to vanish suddenly?

Besides, I honestly don't see what could prompt someone to take down a bunch of drawings. Pictures of themselves, I can understand. Contact information, I can understand. But drawings?

If I were a halfway decent artist, and my RL friends ragged on me about drawing, say, a bird-dude shoving his cock up another bird-dude's ass, I'd point said friend to the money I'd have made selling a drawing of two wolves boinking to someone.

But I guess shame is as shame does.

There are a number of reasons people may take down their works.  Perhaps something in their life suddenly happened to them.  Something their art reminds them of.  What if they never want to remember that thing?  Weither or not it's as healthy as confronting the issues, I can understand why they would remove something that depresses, angers, or otherwise irritates them.  Just because you happen to like a piece of work doesn't mean the artist has to tollerate its pressence.

"Artists can do what they want with their art, as long as I can still look at it!"  That's the basic message I get from your post, and that kind of feeling is one I find more disrespectful than the piracy "To hell with them, let's post it!" attitude.  What if they decide they simply don't WANT people to look at that portion of their art anymore?

"If I were a halfway decent artist, and my RL friends ragged on me about drawing, say, a bird-dude shoving his cock up another bird-dude's ass, I'd point said friend to the money I'd have made selling a drawing of two wolves boinking to someone."

Not all artists draw for money.  Some draw because they simply like drawing, and the thought of someone close to them suddenly changing the way they think about the artist because of something they drew is more than enough incentive for that artist to not want those works available.  It's harder to defend something you created that might not sit well with a close friend or lover that you did because you wanted to, rather than just saying you whored out your skills for money.

this is still horrific overreaction btw. only if the picture is of/for a former friend or a commission it should go down, otherwise you're only annoying your fans.

A "true" fan should be disappointed, but respectful, of the artist's decisions.  Not being smart or anything, just a thought.

that's fanboy, not fan. Also known as a yesman, or a sycophant, or many other names which while not similar in definition can sometimes be used in similar context.
A true fan would attempt to contact him (i've never seen his work nor know his address myself), encourage him to return, perhaps even give new ideas and if possible boost morale with an art trade, since that's the new thang nowadays, and if possible find out what the artist is griefing over and help out, samaritan style.

Well... it could be for multiple reasons.

He likely just wanted to move onto something else, like Vanilla Ice.

Christian??? I'm a christian and I have sex and look at porn constantly, why would he stop? I don't understand it. That doesn't mean he had to get rid of all his porn for other peoples. asnyway.

It's because most Christians, usually rabids or fundies, believe nudity/sex is ev0l and condemns you to hellz.

Just like most Jeish people are bankers, eh?

Sorry if that offended anyone, I was just trying to make a point in a comedic manner, on the off chance >>17 wasn't being sarcastic.

Unfortunately, I don't have any information about David Buttenshaw's artwork.  Has anyone tried actually talking to him about it?  If someone has his e-mail address, it might be productive to ask him about stuff.

I was joking/being sarcastic, but only about halfway. There are, sadly, some Christians that are that way, and unfortunately they dominate this country (United States). :(
