Okeeday... It's time for Uncle Benny's discussion time! Weee! and its gonna be a big one, boys, girls, herms, demonic slime creatures, and very, very lost humans! Batten down the hatches, man the life rafts, use foxes as floatation devices (no offense to foxes, you guys are just really numerous)! Let us begin with something that, quite honestly, still makes old Benny's balls hurt to this day... Lets look at Fur in the Media. Now I understand a few things about TV these days. Yes, yes I do. The most important things are that sex sells, people still pay to look at freaks, and ignorance is not only bliss but a gold mine. This tried and true formula got cut and pasted right onto Furry. I personaly believe that most of us are quiet people. Calm, moderately collected, a lil horny, but pretty harmless. This doesn't make for good TV, so what does TV do? Why it goes out and it gets the most insane freaks imaginable. It gets them by the droves. It gets people too stupid to realize the raw impact of what they're doing and it parades them infront of the masses disguising persecution as empowerment. The general public eats this right on up with a spoon. Its ever better than Jerry Springer because that show can cause EVERYONE shame... Sooner or later you're going to see someone on there that reminds you of friends and family but Furry? Oh nooooooo... Furry is such a minority that there's almost no chance of that. For the rest of the world its a victimless crime. And the saddest part of all is that we NORMAL furries, if such a term exsist, are the actual victims that no one sees and no one hears about because they've been told we're too stupid, too freakish, and too horny to care. Now what REALLY makes me want to throw up is that its not really the media's fault. Sure they could try to be more fair and balanced but they have to make money you know. Where the REAL fault lies is with people inside our own fandom. They couldn't brand us as freaks if there weren't actual people out there acting this way. THAT, my friends, is the single saddest part about it all next to one... Nothing we do now or ever will change this. The stereotype is set in stone. I only hope that we can learn from this and that other groups can learn from it as well. Tune in sometime later for the next chapter if the admins don't tell me to stop, not that i'm against the administration. They's cool folks doing a job no one wants for no pay and barely any benefits. Yay admins!

There are more polite ways to say these things. Find them or find the exit.

My views are honest and what I beleive but serious? Hmmmm... Nope. Anyone who takes this stuff seriously deserves the curse it brings.

And what curse is that? Stop being deep and just come out and say it.

Its rather simple. I can have a beliefE BUT the way I express it does not have to be serious. And if you can't figure out the curse on your own I have to wonder about you... This is a message board. Its a place for discuession and, god forbid, a little fun. When people take it serious it creates the huge, unending, infinitely downward spirals of stupidity and pain that the Bestiality board is turning into where people just scream the same words and insults at each other over and over again.

So you're looking for attention then? Weird... that almost never happens...

Its not so much looking for attention as the fact that I know no matter what I say, no matter what I do, someone, somewhere is going to find fault in it and try to pick me appart over it so... why not have fun with it as I go? I mean... i'm in /dis/, for the love of all things holy. This is the home of meaningless complaining, drama, and bashing. If I can have fun here, I can have fun anywhere and so far, I've been having alotta fun.

>>10 There are discussions for fun, and discussions where people are serious about the topic. As ridiculously long as the bestiality thread has gone on, it is doing so because at least some of those people are serious about it. Right or wrong, they believe what they are saying, and feel the need to try and convince other people of their viewpoint.

There's nothing wrong with wanting to spread your opinion so long as you are trying to explain to someone >how< you are right. The problems are when people JUST say; "you're wrong because I don't like it", which are insulting and pointless, or when someone is muddling a serious discussion with their "fun" and just being distractions.

By all means, if you just want to have fun, start some "fun" discussions. Lord knows this place could use them. But if you don't want to be serious, you shouldn't be getting involved in discussions that are being taken seriously by others. If you're just here for fun, then just sit back and laugh at all of us poor sad souls who are actually being serious about all this nonsense ^_^

So you thought this would be a fun place to hang out? Am I on camera here?

"Its not so much looking for attention as the fact that I know no matter what I say, no matter what I do, someone, somewhere is going to find fault in it and try to pick me appart over it so..."

Thought I'd pick you apart, since you offered... As long as you've got this attitude, then you're probably right. Because as long as you post assuming we're not going to like you, you're going to automatically sound like, and I'm not intending this to be an insult rather than an alliterative tool of the conversation, but you sound like an idiot...

Anyways, I don't know what you see in /dis/ that's so bad, but it's just a discussion board, man. If you see this place as your ultimate challenge then you need to get out a lot more...

It seems faily civil to me. Most of the main debaters aren't throwing around insults.
