I originally raised the question on /crit - here: http://fchan.hentaiplanet.net/crit/res/1294.html - but figured it better to continue it on /dis.

I was thinking (Never a good idea), and had a thought - Why is it, that a cat anthro with 2 human breasts (Albeit with fur) is considered "less freaky" and "sexier" by the wider population, furry or non, than a catgirl who has breasts that are as equally anthropomorphic (ie. multiple breasts, smaller). Lizards are another good example, lizards don't have a penis, they have two small structures called hemipenes, but male lizard scalies virtually always have a human-like penis (Probably just as well hemipenes are not exactly photogenic)

You'd think that having a non human creature, with human sexual organs would freak people out, but it doesn't, or at least, the effect is less than them having "correctly" anthropomorphosied counterparts.

Just wondering if anyone had any theories on the mindset behind that and what your feelings are on it - Think it's more "artistic" to slap human bits, or keep it in line with their overall anthropomorphism (If they're half catlike, so are the breasts)

No it's not that human features weird people out, it's seeing human features where they shouldn't logically belong. If you saw a pig with human hands and feet it'd weird you out. If you saw a cat with human breasts it'd also look "wrong", if you see a human with cat teats it'd look freaky too. But a furry (Half humand, half animal concept) with human breasts looks normal, but a furry with a blended human/cat version looks freaky.

*Points to /c* - I was asking here because I *hoped* that a community of anthro fans might actually be able to discuss anthropomorphism in forms _besides_ porn.

If it's got an animal-like head and tail, and it's covered in fur/scales/feathers, but the body is that of a sexy human most of us expect it to have sexy human parts.

Its that whole uncanny valley thing, but long before the valley.

The basic ghist is this...as a creature becomes more and more like  a human, humanity as a whole starts to be more and more sympathetic to it.  To this point that is why many prefer anthro's to be as human like (but not too humanlike) as possible.  That is why they want breasts on a female..because human females have breasts.

What most furs and fur fans happen to like...is just a human with fur, tail, ears and a muzzle...sometimes not even that much.

I like humans, i have sex with humans in real life.  Before i got into furry i never new what a dogs penis looked like or a hemepenis because i like human bits.  I agree with >>14 that if you like all that bizarre animal sexual anatomy that you probably are fantasizing about more than humans when you rub one off before bed.  And that makes you the vast majority while the vast minority acctually has attraction to that stuff.
