Concerning /ah/ drama.

I wanna see if we can discuss /ah/ and the late /mem/ without getting into major DRAMA like everything else has.

Has anyone else noticed the way the post rate in /ah/ seem to have totally SOARED since /mem/ was gotten rid of? Or is it just me?

Now, I'm an /ah/ person, and I was a /mem/ person when it was still around. They were the only boards I came here for, and I loved both of them, and the confusion and all that resulted in /mem/'s death still kinda hurts me a bit. Even when it was as clear cut as it could possibly be, people still were idiots about it.
Now, I noticed the same misconception happening in /ah/. People are using it as a general fanart board, just like with /mem/. Now, I wouldn't mind this so much if it weren't for the arguments and complaints that spring up because of it. Sure, I can skip them over, but they sure take up a lot of space.

So there needs to be a solution.

We could either give the /mem/ crowd someplace else to go (which will no doubt result in even more drama and emo) or someone could make an announcement or something. Maybe a statement header near the top of the page in big letters stating that nonunderage toons is not /ah/. Like, right under the board name header or in the board description. To me, this seems like an easy thing to do, but no one seems to have thought of it yet, so I make mention here.

And this is probably going to get people made at me, BUT.
When /mem/ was still around and people posted things that didn't belong there, a mod would come and say that it didn't belong. I haven't seen much (read: any) of the mod-stepping-in for that situation in /ah/. Is it like 4chan's /y/ or something?

I will add such a footnote later on, but also have to ask: If you such posts, do you report them? If not, why not?

Report window is finicky and usually doesn't work for me for some reason. I try, trust me.

Firefox, WindowsXP, it's just that my computer hates dialog windows with text boxes in them for some reason and they either don't come up or I get an error message. For the report window here and with any other one on any other site.
My computer's crashed, like, five times in the past 3 years, so it might just be permanently messed up by now.

I see em all the time myself..but tend to not report them because..well..I never thought of /ah/ disallowing strait, gay, lesbian..or anything like that.  And the artist just wasn't sure whats what..or wound up being told (on one of the other boards) to take that art elsewhere..as many are want to do.

Which I figure is probably the main problem to happen with Mem..it isn't that posters just didn't understand what its for..BUT..its because those who were on other boards told them to take it to /mem/ as that 'crap' dosn't belong on the other boards.

Still..if it isn't supposed to be like that....and mods will delete/move pictures that are on /ah/ but can easily be elsewhere..I'll start up reportin em myself.

Move ain't possible, but yes, we will delete such material. See "/a/ is not a dumping ground". The same holds true for /ah/.

Also, i am thinking about coding an alternate report method, but not in the near future.

No, there doesn't need to be a solution. Some of us like /ah/ just fine the way it is. You can tell by how *popular* it is.

Maybe an effective solution might be a /fan/ board for fanart of specific artists or characters.

are you stupid? why would we need that? underage characters and non-anthros would still go into /ah/ and all the rest can still go into the normal boards...

We've said this many times, but that will not be happening. Ever.
