i highly doubt anyone is going to have their house raided over furry porn. but what exactly is the legal status of furry porn in the united states? different states probably have slightly different laws too.. does anyone know anything?

Do you see "Hustler" being sold in your location? "Playboy" available for subscription with no problem? Considering the nature of the subjects- being wholly imaginary with no possible actual analog in reality- I doubt you have many worries.

Except in Minnesota. It's a mandatory death sentencefor possession there.

There's no specific laws. Although if it was brought to their attention, a lawmaker might try to bring up bestiality laws to fight against it.

Furry art has just as bad stuff. Worse in fact; I've never seen anime that involved vore, for instance.

Funny joke man, holier than thou moral crusaders and social reactionaries going to court with a remotely realistic chance to win in such a purely puritan case of far end of the bellcurve, socially innocous and essentially trivial matters like furry? They couldn't even win in the Intelligent Design debacle :)

I doubt if there would be any kind of issue.  Aside from the fact that it's completely imaginary stuff, with little or no basis in reality, I reckon authorities have better things to do than police what kind of artwork people look at (though, ask me in a few more years, and I may change my answer).

Hell, nearly all of my work (adult, comics, and general audience stuff) has been registered with the Library of Congress.  I wouldn't think they'd hand out copyrights if the submitted work was deemed illegal.

Why you gotta hate on guro?  Some of us happen to really like that kind of stuff, thanks.

Besides, what about bizzare shit like PEOPLE TRANSFORMING INTO OTHER PEOPLE'S COCKS??  Only in the world of furry have I had to be disgusted by THAT particular fetish.

Dosn't matter becuase your still missing the point. Furry isn't aganst the law. Period. No matter how sick it makes you. Loli however, IS Aganst the law in some areas. As such your guro loli slice and dice Well get you jail time and pictures of a anthro lion turning into some other persons cock well not.

The end.

The thought process is easy.  I enjoy guro.  I do not enjoy cock or transformation.  Therefore, I more readily accept guro content.

>>10
Loli art will only net you any kind of jail time if you happen to live in those areas.  Seeing as the OP inquired as to furry's legality in the United States, this is not an issue, as loli art is legal in that country.

People transforming into other people's cocks? Well, I've read a manga about someone dying and his soul posessing someone's cock, if that counts. It wasn't even furry or anything.

There was a thread for it a while ago in /ah/, I think.  It was entirely devoted to males physically transforming and becoming the penis of another male.  IIRC there were even a few sequential images of the process. : /

It never was really free. It's always been more a shareware sort of thing, really. If you want full support, you have to invest at least your vote. However, the best part is that it's been open source, though customizing it usually requires a great deal of group effort.

What worries me is that some people seem to want to DRM it, re-write the EULA, make part of the source proprietary and require registration for activation before you can make full use of it.

Your answer is most witty and just.

An apt and true reply was given to Alexander the Great by a pirate who had been seized. For when that king had asked the man what he meant by keeping hostile possession of the sea, he answered with bold pride. "What thou meanest by seizing the whole earth; but because I do it with a petty ship, I am called a robber, whilst thou who dost it with a great fleet art styled emperor." --St. Augustine, The City of God

Haha, and I've never seen furry art with a subject that's cut up into parts, and packed into a suitcase to be carried around like a sex toy or something. Guro has far more disturbing crap than anything I've EVER seen in furry art.

Seriously though. I have nothing against Guro art. I mean, whatever floats your boat, ya know? However, I really think it's far worse than any other form of art. Furry art may have some down sides through some peoples eyes, but for alot of people, guro is just sick and twisted beyond all recognizable belief. =/ But once again, whatever floats your boat I suppose.

ooooooooooo list time
Marcos plunging themsevles into buildings and stepping on their little fellow furs, getting caught inbetween their toes.
Castration, female gential torture, anal vore, mutiple unatural and unethical breasts, sufication, sufication through a tube attached to yours/someone elses ass/cock, cubs, diaperfus, cubs getting tortured, seducing furs, screwing them then voring their souls and shitting the souls out.

Hentai and furry have equally screwed up subjects, the only thing is furries have gotten their way by being "omg you're not open minded if you don't accept me" FURTHER MORE to being "omg you're not open minded if you don't DRAW this for me and like it as well!"

As for the laws, FA recently went through the cub thing yes? They allowed cub art but in turn BANNED shota, on the basis that cubs aren't real, and shota is a human likeness and may have been referenced, they didn't want to get into legal trouble thus they banned it.
So furry seems pretty legit cuz none of it is real, fantasy characters interacting an stuff.

Have a ball. Or two.

In the US, all drawn art is protected under freedom of speech, this includes realistic depictions of illegal acts, like child molestation and the like, as long as there is not intent to incite the actual act by the artist.

Not so much in other countries, though. So on the internets it's still a grey area.

Well, the law is pretty vague on the entire "cub art" thing. The best reference I could find to backup FA's entire argument was the book Lolita, which has been defended in front of the Supreme Court numerous times.

It's a grey area so freakin' dark that you'd need the sun to supernova just to get enough light on the topic.

From my research, one of the biggest potential "gotchas" is if the image in question can be proven to be based of a real person (and thus be linked to pedophilia). Thus, shota bad... cub OK (although I still hate the shit out of that art style!).

Furry porn is not illegal in the US. Out here in Kyrgyzstan, I dunno... I could have my hands cut off if they knew. =P Who knows.

The only thing that causes people (including myself) to believe that citizens of the United States are not free, is because every time a law is passed that provides some sort of security our lives become more constricted. What they call security is nothing more than a freedom killer, no matter what the circumstances it is slowly depriving us from our fore fathers desires. If the future continues on this path it's going to be just like Orwell's 1984, and you won't even be safe to think freely in your mind.

Please Do Me A Favor and comment on this. Thanks.
