In City of Heroes/Villains, there are a few animal-like heads one can choose, and you can put a feline-esque facial pattern on your characters as well as a variety of animal ears.  I've currently got two rat-looking characters (see my name) - not perfect, but they pass.  :)  Pretty much the other options are canine-like or a single dragony, dinosaury option.  One of the things that seems silly about all this is that the choices of animal ears are actually LESS for those animal-like heads; who knows though, that can change as they keep fiddling with costume options.

Overall I like the game myself as well, I'd recommend it.  I had a chance to take a good peak at WoW and it doesn't hold up when it comes to designing your character's look.

I would LOVE to see an anthro Carbuncle, btw. Such a cute atomic squirrel!

They should bring out that soul gainer or whatever it was called. That looked great. I genrally don't like MMORPGs or RPGs in genral. Steriotyped rubbish that need no skill, just that you give it all your time and (in mmos) money. Not for me.

That said I'm thinking of getting digimon because it has gotten rid of 'the grind' and possably fossil league because it got good reviews and has dinosaurs in it.

As for me. I play Dawn of War 1 online occasionally and am thinking of starting to play dark crusade. SabreXT is the name should you want a game. We could even arrange a game here maybe?

Yes I could very easily.

Childishness aside aside though, RPGs and RTS aren't much different, other then the fact RTS has more game to it.

MMORPGs are basicly 3d chat with level grinding thrown in. RTS can be played co-opratavly by anyone. Unlike FPS, RTS requires more then little teamwork and comunication. Arranging a game here is no different then saying "I'm on sever xxxxx".

SL is like RPGs the other way, even less game and more demanding on the system it's played. I have a friend who keep nagging me to play dispite it being rubbish (IMO). In a way any game that allows co-op could be included in this topic, otherwise we'd have to start one for each game. I will if that's what is what is reqired.

Sorry, but you couldn't be more wrong.

There is a number of mmorpgs out there that surpass ANY RTS in terms of needed teamwork. I myself am a director of membership, tasked with recruiting new people, performing background checks on new people, introducing them to our corp culture, the services offered by our corp, the various tools we use to regulate everyday life and also act as a counselor and nanny to 150+ people.

We have various directors tasked with various regions of corp life, such as pvp ops (shooting other players), POS planning/building/maintenance (base building and housing), complex runs (shooting npcs in dungeon-like structures), mining (procuring of raw material for the net department), manufacturing (production of things to be used by ALL of the other departments), intelligence (trawling fora, scouting systems, gathering data about the systems we or our enemies live in).

Every single of these departments requires people with varying skills, on their characters and also in the players themselves. Each department needs multiple people, as there are always a number of different tasks to be performed in each department. Each department is at least to a degree dependent on one or more of the other departments and each department shares it's workforce with the other departments as people usually have multiple skills and abilities.

My corp is part of an alliance of various corps, making up a group of 1200+ players, in turn our alliance is part of a coalition (created by non-aggression pacts and matching goals and enemies), which has about 4000-5000 players, this coalition in turn lives in a region of space that is populated by at least 4 other alliances and all in all 15000+ players.

Now, if you still think that a single game of Dawn of War requires more teamwork, more thought by each individual and more work by each individual than the structure i just described then i'd love to hear you describe the structure you use and some reasoning on why you think that.

Not sure what MMORPG that is. My guess would be huxley as it's the only shooting based one other then eve that I know of.

Regardless of game. I doubt very much that you go around solving petty squabbles and wiping the arse of every player under you. Since you are trying to compair based on scale, I would have to point out that it is in fact that very scale that prooves your wrong. If 50 of those 15000 players don't do their bit, your probley not going to notice. If a RTS player in a 3v3 game dosn't do their bit, it could cost the game.

Since this very 'RPG vs RTS' thing is more off topic then being a FPS and RTS player. I'll break it down so to avoid further questions.

Simply playing a game with no overplan can be fun, each player plays their way. As you get better, play becomes more organised until roles are being handed out.

Each game requires a stratagy. Simply 'ripping' a strat or using a popular one is a bad idea genraly. The overall plan can be based on a number of things like the map (level) as well as style of each player and their chosen army as well as the enemy.

Each player then has to work out the best way to handle that role. A tank builder would need power and bare minimum infantry. Once you have the tanks rolling out the factory, you can't just send them in (unless that is the chosen start) and more then likly you will have to coordinate an attack with other team members, even 'microing; on multiple fronts if that is what is needed. While all this is going on, you have to look after your base. Things rarly go smoothly, such is war, and the plan might change on the fly.

In short, just because you havn't got to babysit 1000 odd people, dosn't mean teamwork is deminished, it is increased. In an RPG it would be possable, but not efficiant for 1 person to do their own thing. In RTS or FPS, it's going to be near impossable for a player to defeat 3 on his own. The only downside is that RTS has more going on so less time for being social mid game.

I play Vanguard on Varking(Team PvP), and WoW on Anvilmar(Normal server... would have went to a PvP server but I have a pus friend that didnt want to deal with fighting other players... as a result I think WoW is boring now).  Anyway, Raki Psi FTW!
