[Furry Radio] OK, who do I holler at..

To say that "Furry Radio" is awful?

First, it's the most "Furry" it has in it as far as I can tell, is when I clicked to listen to it.

Yes, Furries deserve and ought to run their own media, on their corner of the Net, and I DON'T mean on Second Class -er- Second Life  thank you very much.

How about working on some genuine Furry content for Net Media, and putting together programming that has something to do with the Fandom and what it needs, wants, and wants to do?

It would work better by an order of magnitude than the DRIVEL that is being pushed at Furies, both on SL and in other places.

C'mon. Furries happen to be some of the most technically adept people anyplace. We can do better than this, and I for one want to do better.

So who around here can tell me how I can get a "piece" of this "Furry Radio" thing?

lol?

The radio was never advertised as having special "furry music." What the hell would that be, anyway? Music about sex or wanting to be an animal?

The radio is meant to be fun, and to feature some of the popular music people tend to like. It's a FREE service for people who enjoy music. If you don't like it, don't listen to it. After all, it's not FOR you. :P

It has been brought to my attention (Thank you for the IM, BTW) that the addy above is incorrect. You should substitute oykoyr for roci (damn fill in software)

Raven- I simply believe (in part) in what you might call "truth in advertising."  If it's on a furry site, I think it ought to have furry content.

Now then, let's think about this. I mean it. Take a second and let a couple of your brain cells rub together.
There are, in fact, quite a number of Furries whosse chosen medium of expression is music. How much air do you think they grab from say ClearChannel?
And if you happen to think that all that Furry is about is sex, or wanting to be an animal, than YOU need to be better informed.

I rest my case.

This isn't another case of fursecution is it? D:

Really though, what you are saying doesn't make any sense at all. If someone in the fandom creates a work of music, that doesn't make it at all "furry" unless the song involves lyrics which have to do with the fandom in some form. Otherwise, it's just music composed by someone who happens to have an interest in anthropomorphic animals (which there may be plenty of in modern pop music, for all you know). Logic, ftw! Or are you one of those people that thinks you are somehow special simply because of the hobby you hold interest in?

Normally I would not be so overtly condescending, but I tire of people who think they are special because of something so petty as a personal interest. I find such to be incredibly juvenile and I will not hide my feelings on the matter. Not to mention how incredibly rude you are being simply because you are not able to get what you want. Perhaps if your parents had taught you some manners, you'd know that politely asking for something is often a much better way of getting someone to respect and understand your viewpoint. But since you seem to lack this most basic social trait, I see no need to even entertain your "suggestions."

Long story short: Again, if you don't like the music, don't listen to it.

What exactly would be different besides letting you pick the music?

I mean, no offense, but there really isn't that much furry music out there.  I've only ever hear one song that actually about furries before.  I know the are some furry bands, but the only one I've heard of only has one CD.  Would we just play the same 13 songs constantly?

I think your heart's in the right place but other than yourself I haven't really heard anyone complain, so I think people like the radio the way it is.

Now, if you have a song you like to hear or something I know Raven takes suggestions, there used to be a thread for it.

I agree with the furry lyric attribution thing. Just for the sake of conversation though, what would it take to make a lyric-less song furry? If a furry fan created their own genre of music, with deliberate leanings to the furry fandom, would that qualify it as furry? Or would it just need to use musical techniques which described something furry?

I'm just wondering. Camille Saint Saens did "The Carnival of the Animals". He used particular techniques and instruments to characterize different animals, such as using xylophones for "The Fossils" to signify their clacking, animate bones.

I'd say that's a good exception. Also, if it's instrumental music from a movie with anthropomorphic animal characters, some might also consider it furry (and there is music on the Fchan playlist like that!). However, I think most would be hardpressed to find enough actual "furry music" to put in rotation that wouldn't end up repeating itself every hour.

Also, we could play a game of "let's pretend," in which I scour FA for all the regular music uploaded by furries. However, I'm sure I would get a large amount of angry emails about doing that. The one person I actually asked was okay with it, but he was quite skittish at the prospect, which led me to believe it was not a good idea.

See, I have reasons for being so skeptical. I just don't share them with people who are rude and obnoxious. You make valid points and questions, so I see no reason not to explain things to you. :3
