Genetic Alteration IRL

This is just a silly thought that passes my mind often.

If/when we understand our genes enough to alter them, would you go in for genetic alteration to become more like a furry? Even if risks were involved?

I personally would do it for a tail, sheath, and of course larger cock. xD It depends on the risks involved, though. Like, say, the formation of tumors became more likely or something that sounds like it would be invovled in genetic alteration.

I have no idea how far from reality this is, seeing as we have bred cats to have a phosphorous glow (you can google that). But, right now, I still see it as science fiction. :c

I think we had a thread on this already, and a majority of repliers proposed that it would be a bad idea.

It's a bad idea.

I've never ventured into /dis before. :p But anyways, the cons I see are the same that people experience today, for being different.

Also, instead of simply saying "It's a bad idea", back it up.

"Bad" is putting it mildly.  Elective surgery to enhance one's appearance often produces less than desirable results (see "breast implants").  When those desired results are to look like a freakish creature wrought by mad science, nothing good is likely to come of it.  Just look at the crazies who have had themselves surgically modified.

On that note, does anyone remember the tail Jason Alexander's character had in Shallow Hal?

Read and bump this thread to keep the discussion going.

I've already pointed out the reasons in another thread, i'm not going to retype all of that because if you honestly can't see why it's a bad idea....you must have zero contact with REALITY. It's a bad idea from a social standpoint, it's a bad idea from a religious standpoint, it's a bad idea from an economical standpoint, it's a bad idea from a legal standpoint and it's a bad idea from a genetics standpoint.

Also, I don't respect people who feel the need to lie to me about their flawed genetics by covering up their ugliness on the inside and outside with elective surgery. Be happy with yourself or fuck off is my motto. It sickens me how people constantly find things wrong with themself(Michael Jackson as a high profile example) then disfigure themselves trying to become something else. Whenever I watch some new special talking about how people get DOZENS of surgeries done...wow, just wow.
