intersting read regarding apes being smarter in some ways than many humans.http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/22080399/ the moral line drawn in the imaginary sand saying we are different is slowly being disproved by hard study. various solid studies have shown compassionate responses among animals, logical decision making skills, etc ad nauseum. perhaps its time to start to become aware animals are not that different nor that far below us.

>>1 The results could be interpreted as a matter of biological, visual function rather than actual memory. Of course, even assuming it's true, I'd be more likely to suggest it's support for 'humans getting dumber' than 'chimps are smarter than we thought!' I'd argue about the idea that this was a 'hard study' too, but there's really not much point - I'm completely biased against 'soft' science being given any actual credibility at all, and it'd take way more than an argument on the internet to change my mind on that.

>>4 There's a difference between intelligence and wisdom, though. Humans are intelligent in that they have the capacity for rational thought and critical thinking. However, human nature doesn't always guarantee that these skills will be used correctly.

"...man had always assumed that he was more intelligent than dolphins because he had achieved so much -- the wheel, New York, wars and so on -- while all the dolphins had ever done was muck about in the water having a good time. But conversely, the dolphins had always believed that they were more intelligent than man -- for precisely the same reasons."

Shit, I have a hard enough time accepting most other people as peers let alone some damn dirty apes.>>4 If by "eradicate ourselves and each other" you mean "multiply exponentially," then yes. I wonder how many centuries it will be before we start building hive-like arcologies.
