Fursuiting and meetups boards are actually not allowed for the same reason. "Uh oh, minors!" You don't know when some young teenager (13-16) would try to act more than their age, and go into a meetups board deliberately looking for cyber -- and you also would be surprised at the number of sick fucks who'd give 'em what they were looking for, even (especially?) once they found out they were too young.
"Meetups" has the connotation of "let's talk, so we can meetup later". Remember Alan T. Panda, the pedo who was originally seeking an adult to daddy-fuck, but happily settled for 15-year-old ass once it was offered? This is ripe for FBI and Dateline: Catch a Predator fodder. Even if the underage minor arranges a cyber with another underage minor, that's still cause enough for investigation that a concerned parent simply has to print out the arrangement made on a meetups board and forward it to the police station to stir up a whirlwind of shit (read: ISP drama) even if no official charges are pressed.
Fursuiting -- same reason. You can't prove the age of someone in a photograph, and fursuits also have the additional layer of further obscuring the model's age. Any fursuiting board on fchan would have to be clean, and then closely monitored 24/7 by its volunteer staff to rapidly remove violations. Even if a kid uploads an innocent picture of himself in costume, fchan is overwhelmingly comprised of erotic material (/c/ was created to keep the clean stuff out of the other boards) and this fact could stir up shit.
Even though, technically, there is no foul in a kid uploading a clean picture of himself in costume to a clean fursuiting image board on fchan, some concerned parent might try to make a case that their kid was lured to post a photo of themselves to an animal transformation sex-fetish website primarily known for erotic/pornographic content and argue that the clean fursuit board is just sanctuary for pedophiles to hide under. The case probably wouldn't hold up in court, but the accusation and controversy would raise enough drama to cause fchan's ISP to drop them like a rock of molten lava.
Yes, yes, I hear your anger over how the "protect the children" trope is used by society to keep the adults from having fun with each other, and I'm sorry that the real world is like this.
