A job, and cutting back on spending on games, and other things you don't need, if you really want to save up to buy (insert expensive thing here). Actually, I don't know how much they cost, but the same applies.

>>2 This.
Work more hours (or any at all) - try doing odd jobs if you can't find official work :p
Spend less money on other stuff. Stop buying takeout, going to bars, driving a hire purchase car instead of a used one bought outright, etc.
Not really rocket science, a suit is the same as any other item you desire to have above and beyond the essentials that costs serious money.
Or, learn how to make your own, get good at it (from my perspective that involves make it quite skin-hugging and keeping the head a modest size, the baggy sports mascot ones just look silly ;), then you both save the cash you would have spent and can make more by taking commissions

another good way to save is to keep a money jar for loose change... this, along with a healthy dose of dedication, can be recommended to anyone, especially poor students who need to save up for whatever.
Depending on how much change you get, you can easily make $50-$100 in a year as a supplement to the fursuit.
Additionally, with various life hacks, you can save a lot of money. 4chan (of all places) has life hack threads with all sorts of actually quite useful advice.
More advice: 1. work more. Take extra hours at your job (usually works well in offices). However, do take a look at your work contract to see their rules on overtime. 2. Buy ground meat in bulk, it can be split into multiple smaller bags and frozen for later use. 3. If you're a smoker (and don't want to stop smoking), roll your own and buy larger containers of tobacco and filters/paper in bulk. 4. Plan ahead with food... Make a weekly plan if you can 5. Supermarkets usually have their best offers at the end of the month 6. stop eating organic food! 7. If you can, look for cheaper alternatives to other necessities (cell subscription, insurance, internet, cable etc.) 8. Sell stuff you don't need anymore 9. Turn off standby apparatus and save electricity in general 10. same goes for water 11. Make a monthly budget and keep to it, it will also help give an estimate of how much you save and WHERE you can save even more. 12. Do work beside your job, If you're good at drawing, take commisions. If you're a programmer, either make something people may like or miss or make freelance work 13. get and save savings coupons, esp. on food
You will probably have to sacrifice a few luxuries if you want the suit faster...
With the above points in mind, it should be enough to streamline your economy enough to get the suit within ½ - 1 year depending on various factors. Afterwards you can always see if you want to keep the changes in place for future things you need/want
